Editor is thankful for welcome back

February 25, 2010 - After the last two weeks, I now have a better understanding of how the Prodigal Son felt when he returned home. The open arms, kind words of encouragement, visits and phone calls mean more than you know. I have always considered Leonard my hometown, and now I feel like it is my home - because of each one of you.

FCCMs 2009 End-of-Year Statistics Staggering

February 25, 2010 - In various media outlets around North Texas, recent stories have appeared bringing to light the ever-rising evidence of people in Fannin County being hungry. This came as no surprise to the agencies who work to provide food to those in need. At Fannin County Community Ministries (FCCM), we just finished compiling our 2009 Year-End statistics, stated FCCMs President Vicki Hutchins. We knew we had seen a lot of people last year, but when we saw it in black and white, the statistics were simply staggering.

Blackerby remembered for his 'wavery'

February 25, 2010 - On Sunday, Oct. 18, the community of Leonard suffered a great loss in the passing of David Blackerby. David touched many lives throughout his time with us and I know I can plainly state that everyone who has ever come in contact with him walked away from the experience a better person. He was quite unique in many ways and lived deep rooted faith in ways that most of us can only aspire to.
