
December 24, 2009 - The Leonard Tigers faced the Sam Rayburn Runnin Rebels on Dec. 15 bringing home a victory for the varsity squad by a wide margin. Final score for Leonard was 88 while Sam Rayburn scored 40 total points.
Leonard came out hot, scoring 18 points in the first quarter and Matt Williams was well on the way to being top scorer for the game with nine points to his name, but he wasnt the only double-digit scorer for the game. Aaron Moreland scored four in this period to also get a good lead on scoring in the double digits.
In the second period of play the Tigers scored another 17 points with everyone on the playing floor contributing to the score and putting the score at half time to Tigers 35 and Runnin Rebels at 18.
The third period saw the Tigers hotter than ever with James Arnold scoring nine points and most of the other players scoring at least one of the five two-point buckets, four three-point buckets or five free throws scored. They added 29 points to the scoreboard while Sam Rayburn added 11. The fourth quarter was also no slouch as the Tigers added another 24 points and Nick Gonzales was the high scorer with six points to his credit.
Matt Williams added another four in the fourth and three in the third to bring him to the top of the scorers list with 16 total points. Aaron Moreland and James Arnold both scored 12 points each and Tyler Turner scored 11. Brad Moulder added three three-point buckets for nine points. Nick Gonzales had eight total points, Christian Lyday scored seven, Brad Hartline six and Will Cowan five. Tyler Norman added two points in the second quarter, bringing the game total to 88.
