Kowert announces candidacy for 4th Congressional District

December 24, 2009 - Collin County Adjunct Economics Professor Joshua Kowert today announced his candidacy for U.S. House of Representatives for Texas 4thCongressional District. TheTexas4thDistrict is comprised of Grayson, Fannin, Collin, Rockwall, Hunt, Rains, Hopkins, Delta, Lamar, Red River, Franklin, Titus, Camp, Morris, Bowie, and Cass Counties.

In announcing his candidacy, Joshua said "I love my country and North East Texas, and I am concerned about the future we are creating for the next generations."

Joshua also outlined his experience and beliefs that the government needs to promote growth in the private sector, and not in the government itself, to improve the economy of North East Texas.

My experience as an economics professor, as well as my experiences in both Washington and down in Austin, have reinforced my convictions that a smaller more efficient government, a strong and modern military & intelligence community, a reduction in wasteful federal spending, and encouraging economic growth, especially among small businesses, are all needed to restore America and the Fourth District of Texas security, prosperity, and growth. To accomplish these goals, we need someone who not only understands Washington and todays problems, but also has the energy to fight for these goals and can provide the new ideas that allow for us to succeed not only today, but into the future as well. This is the year for change conservatives can believe in, the start of a brighter outlook for our district, our nation, and our future.

Joshua concluded his announcement by spending some time talking about his vision for the future of the district and theNationas a whole:

It is time that the people of the Fourth Congressional District of Texas, and our Nation, do more than just talk about changing the direction of this country, and take action to lead this country in the right directionwe need representation in Washington who will stand up for the people of this district, fight for fiscal conservatism and economic growth, and hold steadfast to the promise of a prosperous future. We need representation that understands the issues of today from not only a national level, but also on a local level as well.

We know that the solutions to this new millenniums problems will require new ideas; and, while we cannot predict all future difficulties we may encounter, wecanprepare ourselves to solve the issues of today in a manner which secures a future of freedom and prosperity. With today's economicuncertainty growing daily, this district, and this country, needs people in D.C. with a true knowledge and understanding of todays issues, andwho will actively and passionately fight for those interests in response to their constituents This is the year for change conservatives can believe in, the start of a brighter outlook for our district, our Nation, and our future.
