December 17, 2009 - Mrs. Alice Dills will be considered a new teacher at Leonard High School even though she has been working for Leonard ISD for 5 years now because she has been teaching at the Junior High campus until this year. Mrs. Dills has 17 years of teaching experience under her belt, and her areas of certification are English, Science, and ESL.
Mrs. Dills said that she enjoys teaching all of her classes. In fact, she has always wanted to be a teacher. I would bet that she used to play school with her dolls or her friends pretending to be her students. Some of Mrs. Dills hobbies include reading, cooking, and, of course, watching her three children play sports and do their various other activities.
As teachers, we have a chance to guide students toward successful futures. Its a very rewarding career, and one that fits well with being a mom, according to Mrs. Dills.
The dills oldest child and only son, Bradley, is fourteen years old, plays football, basketball, and baseball. In ninth grade football Bradley is a linebacker, quarterback, and receiver. The position that he plays most frequently in football is linebacker. He really enjoys being a linebacker because he gets to hit the other team really hard and get them all jacked up. In basketball he plays post position, and in baseball he can play pitcher or third base with most of his time on the diamond being spent on the mound.
The Dills second oldest child, Natalie, is twelve years old. She plays volleyball and is a guard in basketball, is a cheerleader, and shows rabbits and heifers. The Dills youngest child, Lindsay, is eight years old and shows rabbits.
The college that has earned the loyalty of Mrs. Dills is Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth. TCU has just earned its very first appearance in a BCS, meaning Bowl Championship Series, bowl. Mrs. Dills wanted to end her interview with a very heartfelt GO FROGS!
Coach Dills relates that he has been teaching for eighteen years now and that a large part of the reason he became a coach is that his father is a teacher and a coach and his mother is a teacher alsoseems like he just went into the family business.
Like his wife, the last town in which Coach Dills worked was Mineral Wells, where he coached for six years. His areas of certification include Social Studies, P.E., and Health, and he confided that he enjoys teaching American History the most because he likes looking back at the Civil War era each time he teaches it to students. When he is not teaching or coaching at some school-related activity, which adds up to eighty hours a week in some sports seasons (REALLY!), he enjoys the sports of hunting and fishing.
Coach Dills attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma.
His parting shot was, It might sound corny, but I actually became a teacher to help shape the lives of the students that I work with everyday.
