Annual Christmas Light Contest judging Thursday, Friday evenings

December 17, 2009 - Everyone living inside the city limits is encouraged to participate in the Annual Christmas Lighting Contest sponsored by the Leonard Chamber of Commerce. On Thursday and Friday, Dec. 17th and 18th, an anonymous panel of judges will scour the city for bright lights and creative outdoor decorations. To be sure to be seen, keep your lights on both nights from 7 until 9 p.m.

Judges do their best to find all possible contenders, but it's easy to miss a street. To guarantee your house is in the competition, contact Sheryl Gribble at 903-587-2232 or mail your address and phone number to her attention at P.O. Box 909, Leonard, TX 75452.

Signs are posted in the yards of the Grand Prize and First Place winners. Recognition also goes to second place and honorable mentions. Last year's top two winners are not eligible, but they are encouraged to continue their tradition of putting on a fine holiday display. No prizes are awarded other than the sparkle you put in the awestruck eyes of the city's youngsters and the young at heart. Winners should also leave their lights on Saturday, Dec. 19th for photos.
