Peggy McIntire finds the Leonard Emergency Aid (LEAP) pantry full thanks to many donations of both food and money.

Donations have LEAP Pantry well stocked for the Holidays

December 3, 2009 - The Leonard Emergency Aid Pantry has a problem that is a good problem to have. Donations of food and money have blessed the pantry with overfull shelves and money with which to buy certificates at B & B for perishable items.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Lennox began the month of November well with donations of can goods to the pantry. Then the LHS food drive under the direction of Pam McCarley, that is also a competition against the classes to see who can bring the most food, began and ended with the senior class bringing the most food donations. Before Thanksgiving, on Nov. 24 over 800 items of food were loaded into vehicles and transported to the pantry by LHS students.

Also, several individuals have made donations of food or money and the food drives have been so successful that Grove Hill Methodist Church is loaning storage space for food items that cannot go on the shelves. Also the pantry is storing food in other places until some of the food is picked up.

The pantry volunteers are most grateful for the full shelves and knowing that anyone needing help during these tough economic times can be assured of a place to get food.
