Leonard Picnic Date Set For July 17-22; Firemen To Sponsor

The annual 82nd Leonard Picnic will be the week of July 17-22 this year. The Leonard Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring the event and Fireman Wade Morris was named manager at a recent meeting of the department.

Mr. Morris announces Bill Hames Shows will make their usual appearance at the picnic this year. It was rumored that since the death of the owner of the shows, Bill Hames, the company would not come to Leonard this year, however the contract has been signed and the show will be here for the 82nd anniversary of the picnic.

Jack Minchey And Mrs. Hallmark Marry

Mrs. Ruby Brake Hallmark and Jack Minchey were united in marriage Saturday evening, May 27, 1961 at the Methodist parsonage in Leonard, in a ceremony performed by Rev. Milford Thompson.

Attending the couple were her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Smith. Others present were Trenia Smith, Mrs. Hurbie McKinney and Sam Brake of Bonham, brother of the bride.

The couple will make their home in Leonard.

Friendship Class Hamburger Supper

Mrs. Robert Corder and Mr. and Mrs. Joe F. Moats were hosts for a hamburger cook-out for members of the Friendship Class of the First Methodist Church last Saturday evening at seven o'clock.

The affair was held at the church fellowship hall.

Attending were Mrs. Gerald McCord, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Grimes, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Joe Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Crawford, Rev. and Mrs. Milford Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Moats, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Riddle, Mrs. Joe Holt, Mr. and Mrs. Wayland Wilkins, Mrs. Jack White and the hosts.

Afternoon Tea Honored Seniors

The C. K. McClendons home was the scene of a tea honoring the Leonard High Seniors of 1961 from 3 to 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon, May 21.

Hostesses and hosts to the forty-five guests were Mr. and Mrs. C. K. McClendon, class sponsor Mrs. Alwyn Golden, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Griffitt, Mrs. Rex Weaver, Mrs. A. M. Savage, Mrs. Hobart Lytal.

The refreshment table was laid in a white linen maderia cloth, the class colors were carried out in the centerpiece, an arrangement of white and red carnations in a bronze and crystal epergne.

Plate favors were graduation caps and diplomas tied with tiny red ribbons.

Spring flowers of white and red roses were used throughout the house.
