Funeral Services for Lynn Rose Homola Eklund, 78-year-old Van Alstyne resident, are scheduled for Friday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at the Van Alstyne Church of Christ with Shannon Jackson officiating. Burial will be at the Jones Cemetery in Utopia on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. Family visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard.

Eklund was born Dec. 26, 1934 in Stairtown, the daughter of Charles Stephen and Gertrude Gladys Garner Homola. She was a graduate of Luling High School and Draughn's Business School in San Antonio. She married Fred Allen Eklund on June 21, 1952 in Luling. She was a homemaker, and an active member of the Van Alstyne Church of Christ, the Red Hat Society, the Garden Club of Utopia and the Bridge Club. She passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at the Orchard Park Senior Living Community of McKinney.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Lou Ann and David Crump of Lahoma, Okla. and Emily and Bob Lewis of Leonard; her sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Carolyn Eklund of Gulf Port, Miss. and John and Carla Eklund of Van Alstyne; her 13 grandchildren, Nicole Copley, Melissa Hollis, David Crump, Danny Crump, Elana Crump, Scott Simpson, Carl Eklund, Jr., James Eklund, Colt Eklund, Remington Eklund, Austin Lewis, Chase Lewis and Maddie Lewis; her sister, Leloise Ponce of San Antonio; her two brothers, Joe Homola of Lott and Charles Homola of Georgia; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Lynn Allen Eklund, and an infant granddaughter, Crystal Crump.
