Boys participate in basketball camp

June 23, 2011 - Leonard ISD basketball coaches Jeff Smith and Kyle Phifer held their boy's basketball camp last week at Leonard High School gym, and the coaches and their assistants had a good number of future basketball stars to train for the week. On Friday, parents were invited to join the boys on the last day of camp to watch the boys play some ball and participate in an awards ceremony, where each received awards for their individual strong points.

Participants and the awards they received were as follows: Jalen Rector - MVP and Station King; Jonah Newton - Hustle Award; Ethan Nolen - Station King; Isaac Newton - Most Improved; Daniel McCain - Lay-up Award and Hustle Award; Blayne Kerico - Sharp Shooter; Zachary Kay - Hustle Award; Brex Schur - Most Outstanding; Blake Schur - Most Outstanding; Dylan Hicks - Sharp Shooter; Cauy Owens - Station King; Nathan Harris - Mr. Intensity; Mason Sargent - Free Throw Award; Chance Brown - Station King; Drew Compton - Most Improved; Trevor Cass - Mr. Charge; Jacob Terry - Hustle Award; Jonathan St. George - Mr. Defense; Hunter Sadler - Most Coachable; Jordan Ader - Mr. Charge; Hunter McCarley - Most Coachable; Ty Agan - Most Outstanding; Colton Wortham - Mr. Defense; Cutter Williams - Mr. Intensity; Jackson McLemore - Knockout King; and Justin McLemore - Knockout King.

Assisting coaches Smith and Phifer were Leonard High School students Matt Wilson, Storm Taylor and Joe Mac Sudderth.
