March 10, 2011 - Family violence, sexual assault and emotional abuse affect everyone, not just the specific victim. It effects our whole community, starting with the family and friends of the victim and the family and friends of the perpetrator.

Please help us stop the abuse. Come join the Fannin County Family Crisis Center volunteer training class. You can make a difference.

 

County Republican Women to meet

March 3, 2011 - The Fannin County Republican Women will meet this coming Monday, March 7, for their monthly meeting at 6 p.m. in the Elizabeth May room located at the American Bank of Texas in Bonham. The speaker will be County Judge Spanky Carter. Monday's meeting will give Judge Carter an opportunity to provide the members with information on the upcoming issues and direction surrounding Lake Ralph Hall. The monthly FCRW meetings are open to those women in Fannin County who wish to become a part of the opportunities offered by the Fannin County Republic Women.

 

Republican party announces county Patriot Scholarship

March 3, 2011 - The Patriot Scholarship is an annual $500 award given to a deserving graduating Fannin County High School Senior who best exemplifies patriotism, civic dedication, volunteering and good works toward their fellow citizens.

The $500 award was started from citizen contributions received by the Republican Party of Fannin County as a memorial for the late Richard and Jayne Deweese. Richard and Jayne were long time Fannin County residents who always displayed dedication to their fellow citizens and a great love for the country and its communities.

 

Local DAR highlights spies in the American Revolution

March 3, 2011 - A large crowd of members and guests enjoyed a wonderful look into the journeys of five spies who served during the American Revolution. Dr. Wendell and Linda Edwards presented a wealth of information on five spies who greatly contributed to the Revolution.

Enoch Crosby, John Honeyman, Martha Bratton, Lydia Darragh and Nancy Morgan Heart all sacrificed their own lives, as well as the lives of their families for American victory.

 

Emergency farm loan applications being accepted

March 3, 2011 - Applications for emergency farm loans for losses caused by THE DROUGHT, MAY 1, 2010 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2010 are being accepted at the Farm Service Agency (FSA) office located in Bonham, David Dunmon said today.

Hunt, Collin and Fannin counties (along with surrounding counties) were recently named by Secretary of Agriculture to be eligible for loans to cover part of actual production losses and physical losses resulting from the drought.
