June 16, 2011 - Yuliya Dorik-Strong was sworn in as a U.S. citizen on June 6, 2011. The ceremony took place at the United States Citizen and Immigration Services building in Irving. The 1:30 p.m. ceremony was attended by family and friends of 32 different countries.

June 16, 2011 - The Texas-New Mexico Power Company location in Leonard has recently undergone some updating. The project included a new roof on the building, complete remodel on the inside, the construction of a covered garage for the company trucks, and - at present - new concrete is being poured in sections, as the budget allows, to cover all of the existing gravel. - Ava Barlow staff photo

Miss DeLores Fugitt, Johnny Chapman Engagement Told

Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Fugitt of Celeste this week announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, DeLores Ann, to Johnny Glenn Chapman, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. K. Chapman of Floyd.

The scene of the wedding will be the Hickory Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Joe Carmen will conduct the ceremony at eight o'clock in the evening Friday, June 30, 1961.

No formal invitations will be issued but all friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend the wedding and reception.
