Hall votes for offshore exploration, promotes job creation and energy security

June 2, 2011 - Recently Rep. Ralph Hall (TX-04) voted with the House Majority to pass H.R. 1230, Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act, which passed a vote of266-149. The House will vote on H.R. 1229, Putting the Gulf Back to Work Act, next Tuesday.

"These bills will help set America on a responsible path to safely develop our abundant offshore oil and natural gas energy resources," said Hall. "I have long been a supporter of pursuing an across-the-board energy policy that includes offshore exploration."

May 26, 2011 - On Saturday, residents from all over Fannin County converged on the Multi-Purpose Complex to honor and celebrate the area's Veterans, Military servicemen and women along with the area's senior citizens with dinner and entertainment. The 13th Annual Armed Forces Day Dinner and Celebration event provided the attendees with entertainment by Rita Fulmer during a catfish and chicken fried steak dinner from Cappy's Caf. Many of the tables were adorned with flags representing the five branches of our Armed Forces while the stage held a pride-inspiring picture of eight United States Flags and two State of Texas Flags.

 

Crisis Center receives grant to remodel new building in Bonham

May 26, 2011 - Fannin County Family Crisis Center (FCFCC) is the proud recipient of a $136,000 grant from the Meadows Foundation. This grant money is to pay for remodeling the building that FCFCC bought at 118 E. Sam Rayburn Drive in Bonham. FCFCC wanted to be able to better serve the citizens of Fannin County and this grant makes that possible.

 

Hannah's Horseshoes of Hope kicks off summer camp season with open house

May 26, 2011 - Hannah's Horseshoes of Hope Therapeutic Riding Center in Dodd City has set its summer camp program and offers a variety of opportunities for children with special needs as well as for youngsters who want to learn to ride.

The organization is hosting an Open House on Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a horse show highlighting the accomplishments of the student riders plus a driving exhibition! The horse show will be at 10 a.m. so come and join the fun. The Texoma Regional Blood Center will have their Bloodmobile at Hannah's so come on out and donate much-needed blood. It only takes 30 minutes! There will be vendors and concessions at the event.

 

CASA gains three new volunteers

May 26, 2011 - Three local people recently completed thirty hours of training in order to become volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children in the custody of the state. The training was completed with the Honorable Judge Lauri Blake administering an oath to the new CASA volunteers in the 336th District Court. New child advocates include Lillian Vajda Geron and Jeremy Sweet from Savoy and Stella Eaches from Dodd City.
