Elementary school holds assembly

May 26, 2011 - The staff at Leonard Elementary held a year-end awards assembly for each grade Monday morning, to honor each student for their personal achievements during this school year. Each teacher took a turn to recognize the students in their class one-by-one and present them with certificates, medals and trophies for their various individual successes. Presenting were kindergarten teachers Joyce Scott, Sheri Watson and Kristi Wortham, first grade teachers Bethani Knight, Kristi Malone and Andrea Scoggins, second grade teachers Annie Alexander, Kacie Maxwell and Karla Walker, and third grade teachers Tammy Barnes, Amber Dameron, Kacy Garner and Jennifer Scoggins.

May 19, 2011 - The Leonard FCA huddles sponsored a Golf Tournament on Friday, May 13, at Webb Hill Country Club in Wolfe City for a day of leisurely golf and fundraising.

 

Monday awards assembly honors Leonard High School athletes

May 19, 2011 - The annual Leonard High School Athletic Awards ceremony was held on Monday, May 16, in the high school commons area.

Cheerleader coach Kacie Weaver awarded cheerleaders Najwa Nwankwo and Kasey Chennault the Most Spirited award.

Senior Spotlight: Jake Buchanan

May 19, 2011 - Jake Buchanan is the 18-year-old son of Mark and Joyce Buchanan. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Leonard and has attended Leonard schools for 12 years. While at Leonard, he "played a little football, went to golf a couple of times and ran track when Coach Guess made me". He was named Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year on the Tiger football team for the 2010 season.
