June 16, 2011 - Yuliya Dorik-Strong was sworn in as a U.S. citizen on June 6, 2011. The ceremony took place at the United States Citizen and Immigration Services building in Irving. The 1:30 p.m. ceremony was attended by family and friends of 32 different countries.

Yuliya is from Odessa, Ukraine. She is the fiancee of Brian Mize and the soon to be daughter-in-law of Charlie and Janie Ware of Leonard.

Brian and Yuliya and her son Vlad are making Plano their home.

After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, a welcome video from President Obama, and Lee Greenwood singing "I'm Proud to be an American" on tape as the American flag waved on the big screen above those in attendance, the candidates took the oath of citizenship. Many proud tears were shed and many flags were waving as family and friends congratulated all the new citizens to this great country.

Brian's uncle and aunt, Don and Nancy Williams from Howe, also attended the ceremony.
