Leonard man says Father's Day will be bittersweet for him

Like a lot of holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries, Father's Day can hold moments of sadness and also moments of joy as it is celebrated each year. For me, this year it will hold both. I'll feel the sadness of not being able to go pick out the perfect card. The card that always said something sarcastic, yet witty, that my dad always appreciated getting. I think he liked those types of cards because they reminded him that we shared a lot of the same sense of humor. This year, I wont be able to go buy the same Old Spice cologne that my father always received. I'm not even sure if my father liked that cologne, but the previous years' bottle would always be empty by the next Father's Day. This year, I don't get to go buy socks. I know, socks seem kind of an odd gift, but my dad, for some reason, wore holes in his socks about like a little kid. To this day I have yet to figure out how he managed to do that.

American needs a financially stable Postal Service.

Toward that end, the Postal Service is taking aggressive actions to preserve the long-term affordability of mail and to adapt to a changing marketplace and evolving mailing needs.

Subject to adoption of a final rule changing its delivery service standards, the Postal Service is pursuing a significant consolidation of its national network of mail processing facilities that will reduce the number of facilities from 461 to fewer than 200 by the end of 2013. No consolidations will occur before May 5, 2012.

Declining mail volumes and substantial fixed costs dictate that we take this bold action to preserve and protect the world's leading Postal Service for our customers and our employees.

From 1940 to 2006, the Postal Service oversaw a continuous expansion of mail processing and retail facilities to meet growing demand for mail delivery.

Criminal District Attorney Richard Glaser reports that on Thursday, Feb. 23, the Grand Jury met to consider 25 cases, and all but one were true-billed or indicted. The one case was no-billed. So far in 2012, Grand Jurors have returned 55 true bills of indictment. These most recent cases were filed from the following agencies: FCSO - 10, DA’s Office - 5, Bonham PD - 4, DPS - 3, Honey Grove PD - 1, Ladonia PD - 1 and Trenton PD - 1.

It is important to note that an indictment is a formal charge and should not in itself be considered an indication of guilt. All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
