April 7, 2011 - The Texoma Area Chapter of The American Red Cross provides emergency services, shelters, and medications to victims of disasters in Cooke, Grayson and Fannin counties without charge. The Chapter also provides training in CPR, swimming, babysitting classes and shelter operation to name just a few.
To offset the cost of these operations, the Texoma Chapter is holding one of its three major fundraising events April 15-17 in the old J C Penny's building at the Midway Mall in Sherman. The annual garage sale has grown every year due to the generosity of the people of Cooke, Grayson, and Fannin counties. Once again the Red Cross is seeking donations for the upcoming sale.
Items for the sale need to be in good condition and include furniture, tools, decorations, household items, outdoor furniture, bedding, and exercise equipment. For this sale, the Red Cross does not accept food, clothing, or shoes. Items can be dropped off at the building in the Midway Mall between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. If you are replacing or clearing out your home or office or have large items like furniture, beds and exercise equipment, call 903-328-7148 to reach the sale chairman, Dee Carpenter and schedule pickup or delivery. Volunteers will be available to help as well as provide receipts for anyone who wants one for income tax deduction purposes.
