April 14, 2011 - The Sam Rayburn House Museum will undergo restoration work beginning in May 2011 that will last approximately ten months. Improvements will be made to the museum's visitor center and adjacent grounds.

As of April 5, tours are now limited to the site grounds and the visitor center while the staff prepare for the house museum restoration work. The newest visitor center exhibit, "Preserving the Speaker's Legacy: Restoration and Renovation at the Sam Rayburn House Museum," will remain open to the public during much of the project.
