Next storytelling time is April 19

April 14, 2011 - Leonard Public Library and Leonard Junior High will host their third Storytelling Time on Tuesday, April 19, at Leonard Public Library, from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a come-and-go time and will feature guest readers from Leonard Junior High reading stories to the children attending. Leonard Public Library is located on the east side of the downtown Leonard square.


Four advance to UIL Academic regionals

April 14, 2011 - Four Leonard High School students recently earned the right to advance to the UIL Academic Regional Championships to be held Saturday, April 16, at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.

Caddo Mills hosted the District 12-2A Speaking Championships on March 22 at Faith Baptist Church. Junior Cory Martin grabbed the silver medal in Lincoln-Douglas Debate for the second straight year, earning another trip to regionals. Jordan Jones garnered a sixth-place ribbon in Prose to wrap up his senior year.


Grantland and Jones earn gold at national powerlifting meet

April 7, 2011 - This past weekend, Leonard High School state powerlifting medalists Cadi Grantland and April Jones traveled to Oklahoma City to compete in the Natural Athlete Strength Association's (NASA) national powerlifting meet. Both girls competed extremely well and claimed the gold prize in their respective weight divisions.


Leonard ISD coaches and staff take on FCA Hoopsters

April 7, 2011 - In what has become an annual event for Leonard ISD, coaches and staff for the district played the FCA Hoopsters in a basketball competition this past Friday in the high school gym. The games are usually a fun time of competition and at halftime a Hoopster gives an inspirational message of some kind - often to kids being drug free. Students and adults paid a small fee - $1 - to attend the game and enjoy the competition.

April 7, 2011 - Varsity boys: Placing for the varsity boys at last week's track meet were as follows: Alec Brockus - first in mile and two-mile; mile relay team placed sixth; 800-meter relay team placed sixth; Dalton Ball placed second in the discus; and Dario Gomez placed fourth in the discus.
