Senior Spotlight: Paige Marie Watson

April 7, 2011 - Paige Marie Watson is the 18-year-old daughter of James Clifford and Sheri Kay Watson. Paige is a member of the Leonard Church of Christ and has attended Leonard schools thirteen years.

In school, Watson has been active in Jazz Band two years, BETA Club four years, Art two years, Gifted & Talented since elementary and she plays drums for the band, Avoid the Sky.

April 7, 2011 - Tristan Custis, 18, is the 18-year-old son of Patrick Custis and Shatanna Desadier. Tristan has attended Leonard schools for three years. He loves to fish, hunt, swim and game online and is a member of FFA.


One Act Play wins awards

Elementary taking orders for pre-packaged school supplies

April 7, 2011 - Leonard Elementary School is again offering the SchooKidz pre-packaged school supplies for the 2011-12 school year. Order forms were sent home with the students recently and the order deadline is Friday, April 15. Payment must accompany the order and no late orders will be accepted.


Orders being taken for elementary field day apparel

April 7, 2011 - Orders are currently being taken for Field Day shirts, shorts, visors and bags. The shirts are white with a black screen print image that says "Leonard Elementary Field Day ROCKS" with guitars on it. Shirts are available in youth small (6-8), medium (10-12) and large (14-16) and adult small to four X. Cost is $8 for shirts up to adult XL. The 2X is $9, 3X is $10 and 4X is $11. Shorts are black with crossed guitars on the lower leg. They are available in youth small (6-8), medium (10-12) and large (14-16) and adult small to three X. Cost is $8 for shorts up to adult XL. The 2X shorts are $10 and 3X are $12. Those ordering a shirt and shorts will receive a free visor. Visors are, however, available for purchase separately as well. They are one size fits all and are $3 each. Canvas bags that are blue with "Leonard Tigers" and a paw in yellow are also available for $8 each. The deadline to order is Monday, April 11, and payment must accompany the order. Contact the elementary office for an order form. All money collected from the orders will help buy field day supplies and rent bounce houses. Field Day is scheduled for Friday, May 20.


Report cards

April 7, 2011 - Leonard Elementary report cards for the fifth six weeks will be sent home on Thursday, April 14. Progress reports for the sixth six weeks will be sent home Friday, April 29. Parents are asked to review these with their child(ren), sign and return to the teacher. Anybody wishing to have a parent/teacher conference may call the school office to set one up.


Athletic Club electing new officers

April 7, 2011 - The Leonard High School Athletic Booster Club will be electing all new officers in May. If you would like to be an officer or if you know of someone who you would like to nominate please contact Pam McCarley.

The Athletic club is an organization that supports all athletics at LHS. Over the last few years the athletic club has had two fund raisers. The golf tournament in July and running Friday night football concession stands during the fall. (five games). A meeting will be held in May to elect the officers... the date will be announced soon.


First and second grade play May 17

April 7, 2011 - The first and second grade classes at Leonard Elementary will present the musical "Seven Ways to be a Pirate" on Tuesday, May 17, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The students need to be on board by 6:30 p.m. The community is invited to attend this performance.


Varsity baseball boys win two last week

March 31, 2011 - The varsity Tigers played two district games last week and clenched the opportunity to better their record both times.

On Tuesday, March 22, the Tigers faced the Rivercrest Rebels in a home game and garnered a game for their winning record. Ty McKinney threw 96 pithces for the Tigers, facing 30 batters and only giving up three runs off of seven hits. Two of the three runs were earned runs. He struck out nine batters, walked one, gave up one triple and had one wild pitch.
