Feb. 24, 2011 - Celeste Junior High School and the Region 10 Education Service Center are teaming together to participate in a pilot technology project directed by Alan November called The Future is Now. Schools that have been invited to join this program have excelled in the area of technology integration. Alan November is the founder of November Learning, an education consulting firm for educational leaders and faculty. Named one of the nation's fifteen most influential thinkers of the decade by Classroom Computer Learning Magazine, November became the co-founder of the Stanford Institute for Educational Leadership Through Technology.
Celeste Junior High School has ten students and six faculty members on the tech team. The students and faculty will attend four days of training for this program. During the training students and faculty work together to learn, utilize, integrate and develop lessons with Web 2.0 programs such as Google Docs, Diigo, Skype, Twitter and Jing. The program will conclude in the summer with a student-centered presentation on how these Web 2.0 programs can help globalize the curriculum, manage and organize large quantities of information and create content that builds a learning legacy.
