30 YEARS AGO - APRIL 3, 1981

The Tree House

A new business on the southside of downtown Celeste is now open. THE TREE HOUSE by Linda Brown and Arvella Kirk are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Featuring clothing, gifts, crafts, toys and miscellaneous items. Come by and meet the new owners and see their decorative store.

 

Superintendent Clark honored with farewell reception Sunday

March 31, 2011 - After fifteen years of service to the Celeste Independent School District, Superintendent Collin Clark has decided to further his career by accepting the superintendent position at Cameron ISD.

To celebrate his many years of exemplary leadership and dedication to the students and staff of Celeste Independent School District, a reception was held in his honor on Sunday, March 27, in the Celeste High School Dining Hall. CISD School Board President Jeffery Baber presented Clark with an engraved plaque, framed picture and gift card from the CISD faculty and staff.

Thursday Club meets at school library, learns about research development skills

March 31, 2011 - On Thursday, March 24, the Celeste Thursday Club met in the Celeste High School Media Center. CHS Library Media Specialist, Julie Dillard, spoke to the group about research development skills and digital resources for the 21st Century learner.

 

Coffee Club hosted by Hubbard

March 31, 2011 - Judy Hubbard hosted the Coffee Club meeting March 23 with Jo Willa Pierson, Ruby Miller, Bethalyne Lyon, Frances Reynolds, Melba Compton, Mary Ann Hooks, Mary Jane James, Gwen Schroth, Rachel Clark, Christine Carrington, Lynda Lou Thorp, Lou Evans and Barbara Ashworth attending.

A patriotic theme was used in decorating the tables. Everyone enjoyed fellowship and refreshments. Cards were sent to shut-ins and the members expressed sympathy in the loss of Sarah Andry's father.

CHS Senior Spotlight - Todd LaFavers

In this week's Senior Spotlight, is Todd LaFavers, the seventeen year old son of Larry and Nona LaFavers.

His favorite activities include football, basketball, tennis, and going out with friends.

His future plans include attending East Texas State University.
