Felony indictments continue to climb in Fannin County

June 2, 2011 - On Thursday, May 19, the Fannin County Grand Jury met to review 29 cases presented for their consideration, and all were true billed or indicted. Of the new felony charges filed, 13 involved either drugs or burglaries while six cases of assault and five DWI cases were other crimes impacting Fannin County.

In the first five months of 2011, a total of 186 new felony cases have been charged in Fannin County.

It is important to note that an indictment is a formal charge and should not, in itself, be considered an indication of guilt. All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The law enforcement agencies filing cases were as follows: Fannin County Sheriff's Office - 11 cases, Bonham Police Department - five cases, Department of Public Safety - five cases, Criminal District Attorney's Office - four cases, Ladonia Police Department - two cases, and Leonard Police Department - two cases.

The following people were indicted for the criminal offense and range of punishment indicated:

Leland Leon Henderson, 56, of Leonard - Aggravated assault against a public servant, a first degree felony.

Riley Eugene Fine, 44, of Trenton - Driving while intoxicated - third or more, a third degree felony.

Jonathan William Kersey, 27, of Bailey - Driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age, a state jail felony.

Weldon Leon Armstrong, 44, of Bonham - Bail jumping and failure to appear on a felony - enhanced, a first degree felony carrying a punishment range of 25-99 years or life in confinement.

Daniel Christopher Green, 30, of Bonham - Burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit another felony - enhanced, a first degree felony carrying a punishment range of 15-99 years or life in confinement and a fine up to $10,000.

Joe David Jones, 32, of Bonham - Aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury - enhanced, a second degree felony carrying a punishment range of 25-99 years or life in confinement.

Johnny Wayne McBrayer, 52, of Bonham - One count of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second degree felony; and one count of assault of a family/househld member with a previous conviction, a third degree felony.

Clarence Lee Thomas, 52, of Bonham - Manufacture or delivery of a penalty group one controlled substance weighing less than one gram, a state jail felony.

John Clayton Townsend, 47, of Bonham - Possession of a penalty group one controlled substance weighing less than one gram, a state jail felony.

Marcus Earl Aubrey, 29, of Honey Grove - One count of delivery of marijuana weighing less than 1/4 ounce, with remuneration in a drug-free zone, a state jail felony; and one count of delivery of marijuana weighing more than 1/4 ounce but less than five pounds in a drug free zone, a third degree felony.

Shannon Renae King, 28, of Honey Grove - Delivery of marijuana weighing more than 1/4 ounce but less than five pounds in a drug free zone, a third degree felony.

Gerald Miles Craven, III, 29, of Ravenna - Driving while intoxicated - third or more, a third degree felony.

Robert Keith Ladd, 35, of Telephone - Assault of a public servant, a third degree felony.

Darrell Tremayne Wilburn, 33, of Ladonia - Criminal mischief causing $1500-$20,000 in damage, a state jail felony.

Joshua Denney, 22, of Greenville - Possession of marijuana weighing more than 1/4 ounce but less than five pounds, a state jail felony.

Chelsea Nicole Wade, 17, of Howe - Manufacture or delivery of a penalty group two controlled substance weighing between four and 400 grams, a first degree felony.

Mikel Leon Brewer, 54, of Sherman - Assault of a family/household member with previous conviction, a third degree felony.

Zachery Kyle Rhoades, 19, of Sherman - Manufacture or delivery of a penalty group two controlled substance weighing between four and 400 grams, a first degree felony.

Ronald Eugene Anderson, 56, of Pottsboro - Driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age, a state jail felony.

William Patrick Parker, 47, of Denison - Driving while intoxicated - third or more, enhanced, a third degree felony carrying a penalty range of two to ten years in confinement and a fine up to $10,000.

Paul Andrew Macias, 25, of Paris - One count of intoxicated assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, a third degree felony; and one count of accident involving serious bodily injury/death, a third degree felony.

Trevor Paul Matlick, 19, of Garland - Manufacture or delivery of a penalty group two controlled substance weighing between four and 400 grams, a first degree felony.

Timothy Allen Sprowls, 21, of Duncanville - One count of manufacture or delivery of a penalty group two controlled substance weighing between four and 200 grams, a first degree felony; One count of manufacture or delivery of a penalty group two controlled substance weighing between four and 400 grams, a first degree felony; and one count of possessing a prohibited substance (alcohol, drug, phone, tobacco) in a correctional facility, a third degree felony.

Ronald Eugene Capps, 65, of Lubbock - Bail jumping and failure to appear on a felony - enhanced, athird degree felony carrying a punishment range of 25-99 years or life in confinement.

Unless otherwise noted in the list above, each charge carries a fine up to $10,000, and possible confinement as follows: state jail felony - 180 days - two years; second degree felony - two to ten years; third degree felony - two to twenty years; and first degree felony - 5-99 years or life.

Next month Grand Jury is scheduled to meet on Thursday, June 23, at 8:30 a.m.
