April 7, 2011 - The Leonard Public Library is getting ready for their annual "Big Bag of Books Sale", scheduled for Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and library director Rose Farhood has been successful in making the event community-wide. Farhood announced this week that Rose Marie's Painting, Summer house, LEAP (downtown store), Leonard Pharmacy, Furniture Gallery and Crossroads Hardware will all have sidewalk sales setup on the square the same day.
Bear Creek County Store will also participate by offering Bear Creek Buggy Rides and the Leonard Chamber of Commerce will have a rummage sale to benefit the fireworks show at this year's Leonard Picnic. Any other businesses wishing to join in the fun are welcome, and should contact Farhood to be added to the list.
For the Big Bag of Books Sale, those attending may pay a $10 donation and fill the bags with books, audio books, movies, etc. that will be in the sale.
Heather Bryant (junior at Leonard High school and varsity cheerleader) has offered to lead the team of volunteer workers on Friday, May 6, in organizing and preparing for the sale. Those students needing community service hours can find Heather on campus to sign up, or may do so at the library. Helpers will be needed on Friday and Saturday.
Anybody wishing to donate items to the Chamber of Commerce's rummage sale should contact Angela Sadler or Elizabeth Christman at 903-989-2235.
