June 23, 2011 - The LSA 10U Lady Tigers softball team started their 2011 season winning the East Fork pre-season tournament, and finished the regular season undefeated with a record of 14-0. The team received an invitation to compete in the Texas Amateur Softball Association State Tournament, held last weekend in McKinney, and represented Leonard well, placing third overall.

Miss Margaret Richards And Wayne Ruff Engagement And Marriage Plans Revealed Mr. and Mrs. Joe Richards, Sr. of Leonard announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Margaret Richards, to Mr. Wayne Ruff, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Ruff of Leonard. The wedding is scheduled for the middle of July. Mr. Ruff is presently employed at the J. Y. Taylor Company in Garland. Miss Richards is employed at Juanita's Hair Stylists in Garland.

June 23, 2011 - First Assembly of God in Leonard will host Vacation Bible School for children four to 12 years of age on Monday through Wednesday, June 27, 28 and 29. The special event will take place nightly from 6 to 8. All children are invited to attend. The church is located on East Fannin Street across from Sonic and Dollar General.

June 23, 2011 - Services for George Thomas Hataway, 82, of Leonard, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, June 17, at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard with Charles Wrenn officiating. Burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery. He passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.

June 23, 2011 - Leonard police were dispatched to a home on Short Street after a case of domestic violence was reported on May 30. Reports show that a man and wife had gotten into a verbal argument, which turned physical. The man's parents told officers that they observed the wife kick and hit their son with an open and closed fist several times. She was taken into custody on class A misdemeanor charges of Assault Family Violence.
